A hotel blogger's journey across Europe's finest accommodations
📅 Published: July 16, 2025
Hello! I'm Alexandra Beaumont, and I've spent the last eight years traveling the world and immersing myself in the world of luxury hospitality. What started as a personal passion for discovering unique places to stay across different countries has evolved into Travel Hotels—a platform where I share my honest experiences, insider knowledge, and carefully curated recommendations with fellow travelers who appreciate the finer details of exceptional accommodations.
My journey into hotel reviewing began somewhat unexpectedly. After completing my degree in Hospitality Management at École hôtelière de Lausanne, I worked in various capacities at several renowned properties internationally. From front desk operations to guest relations and eventually assistant management, I gained an intimate understanding of what truly makes a hotel exceptional—and what falls short of the mark. It was during these years that I realized my true calling wasn't just working in hotels, but telling their stories and helping travelers make informed choices about where to rest their heads.
After years of traveling to different countries and experiencing hotels worldwide, I began documenting my discoveries. In 2017, I took a leap of faith and started Travel Hotels, beginning with France—specifically Paris, which captured my heart with its unique blend of historic elegance, modern luxury, and incomparable hospitality culture. I documented my stays and created comprehensive reviews of the city's incredible accommodation scene, from legendary palace hotels to innovative boutique properties.
What started as a focus on French hotels has naturally evolved into a broader European journey. As I continue traveling across the continent, I'm gradually expanding Travel Hotels to include exceptional hotels in other captivating destinations. Rome, with its timeless grandeur and authentic Italian hospitality, became the next chapter. Barcelona, Spain's Mediterranean jewel, followed—each city offering its own distinct hotel culture and unique experiences. I'm constantly discovering new properties, evaluating them with the same rigorous standards, and sharing my honest insights with fellow travelers who appreciate the finer details of exceptional accommodations.
What sets my approach apart is my background in the industry itself. I don't just observe hotels as a guest; I understand them from an operational perspective. I notice the small details that reveal a property's true character—the quality of staff training, the thoughtfulness of room design, the care taken in breakfast service, the genuine warmth (or lack thereof) in guest interactions. I evaluate everything from thread count and bathroom amenities to concierge knowledge and neighborhood integration. My reviews are comprehensive because I know what questions discerning travelers actually want answered before they book.
Over the years, I've stayed in more than 200 hotels across Europe, from legendary palace hotels where royalty once slept to innovative boutique properties opened by young designers with fresh visions. I've experienced €100-per-night charming bed and breakfasts that punched well above their weight class, and €1,000-per-night suites that somehow missed the mark. These experiences have taught me that true luxury isn't always about price tags or star ratings—it's about authenticity, attention to detail, and creating memorable experiences that resonate long after checkout. Each country brings its own hospitality philosophy, design aesthetic, and cultural nuances, and I love discovering what makes each destination's hotel scene unique.
Travel Hotels was born from my desire to share this knowledge with travelers who, like me, believe that where you stay profoundly impacts how you experience a destination. Every review on this site represents a genuine stay, paid for independently, with no sponsored content or preferential treatment from hotels. I maintain complete editorial independence because your trust is more valuable to me than any partnership deal. When I recommend a property, it's because I genuinely believe it offers something special—whether that's exceptional value, unique character, outstanding service, or an unforgettable location.
Beyond the reviews themselves, I aim to educate readers about European hospitality cultures, help them understand different hotel categories and what to expect at various price points, and provide practical advice about booking strategies, best neighborhoods for different travel styles, and how to maximize your hotel experience. Each European destination has its own rich hospitality traditions—from French elegance and Italian passion to Spanish creativity—and I consider it my privilege to serve as your guide through these diverse landscapes.
When I'm not checking into hotels, you'll find me exploring European cities on foot, hunting for the perfect local café, photographing architectural details, or planning my next review trip. I split my time between Paris, where I maintain a small apartment, and the road, where I'm constantly discovering new properties across Europe to evaluate and share with you. My blog is a work in progress—I'm gradually expanding coverage to new destinations, always ensuring each review meets my high standards before publication.
Thank you for joining me on this journey through Europe's finest hotels. Whether you're planning a romantic weekend in Paris, exploring Rome's ancient streets, soaking up Barcelona's Mediterranean energy, or dreaming of future destinations, I hope my insights help you find the perfect place to call home during your travels. The blog continues to grow, with new hotel reviews and destination guides added regularly as I explore more of Europe's incredible hospitality scene.
